BIMA provides the highest caliber of group instrumental and vocal music instruction, tailored to each student’s unique strengths and goals located, on the Big Island of Hawaii.

We accept students ages 10 and up, on a variety of instruments including bass, guitar, drums, ukulele, congas, piano, trumpet, flute, saxophone, trombone, and vocals.
Our students have opportunities to perform at local festivals and events, with an emphasis on inspiring a deeper connection and passion for music in the community!
Classes are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays
The first class is FREE!

We are a 501c3 Non-profit corporation and we are always in need of funding to be able to pay our teachers. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help keep music education alive for our keiki.

Aloha, we are cancelling all classes to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We plan to resume classes when the Hawaii Department of Education sees fit for kids to return to school.

Andrea Lindborg
Andrea is a trumpet player, composer and singer from the Marshall Islands. She has studied with Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Bill Sears and composer Wendell Logan, and has performed with musical greats such as Renee Rosnes, Danilo Perez, Victor Jones, Russ McKinnon, George Mraz and Reggie Griffin. Andrea graduated with a BA in jazz performance from Oberlin Conservatory and received an MA in arranging from Berklee College of Music.

Currently residing on the Big Island of Hawaii, Andrea composes original works and performs with Blue Jade, Nowelo, Bump City, The Jazztones, The Olliephonic Horns, the Kamuela Philharmonic, Kona Brass, and the Kona Music Society Orchestra. She is co-director the Big Island Music Academy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young people through music education and performance. She is currently working on a an EP of pop/jazz under the artist name Ann Hoku Lyn.

Bill Noble - Guest Artist
Bill Noble was born and raised in Kohala, Hawaii and now resides in Kailua Kona, Hawaii.
He received his teaching music degree in Texas and has taught music at the Intermediate, High School and College Levels.

Bill Noble is well known for his work with small Jazz Combos at the major hotels along the Kona/Kohala Gold Coast. He also has his own Bill Noble Big Island Big Band which keeps the sounds of the Big Band Swing Era alive and also conducts the Olliephonic Horns.

Binti Bailey
Binti Bailey is a talented vocalist who has a diverse musical skill set from blues to classical – jazz to soul, rock and much more.
Singing and performing since she was a very young child, Binti grew up listening to a wide range of music styles – from Pavarotti to Sam Cooke and beyond. In addition to singing, she also plays percussion, flute, and keyboards.

Brett Zimmerman
Brett was a leader and instructor at Rock Academy and Asheville Music Academy in Asheville, North Carolina before moving to the Big Island of Hawaii. He currently plays guitar in the band “The Critics” and has Bachelor of Science in Music Production from Appalachian State University, Boone, NC.

Luke Clebsch
“Truth Musiq” is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and educator. He teaches advanced guitar, bass, harmonica, and ukulele, as well as beginning piano and drums. He studied ethnomusicology and jazz guitar at Oberlin College, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Production from Berklee College of Music. He is also Apple Certified in Logic Pro X.
